Experiments in Fooding! ::

Potato and Corn Chowder & Smoked Salmon Alfredo over Fettuccine ::

So what do you do when a relative hands you a pound of tasty, tasty smoked salmon, and you want to do more than eat it with bagels and lox? Well, you make something out of it! Just like that old saying goes, "When life hands you smoked salmon, you make an alfredo"... right? guys?

Last night's experiment consisted of two courses; a soup (very easy to make, I might add) with potatos, corn, and beans:

Potato and Corn Chowder

And a pasta dish, consisting of a smoked salmon alfredo served over some nice whole-wheat fettuccine:

Smoked Salmon Alfredo with Fettuccine

Both dishes were easy enough to make, and the whole thing probably took a little under an hour to prepare including the time to cook the noodles. Served hot, the soup has a slight kick to it that makes you want a little more of the broth. The only thing I'd do differently the next time around is do something to offset the salt used in preserving the salmon a little more. Other than that, no complaints. Very tasty!
